Bookmarks are an item that will make any book lover instantly happy. I’ll admit, I’ve used many things as bookmarks over the years (receipts, cards, etc.), and I even have — please don’t hate me — made dog ears to mark my place. But nothing beats using a bookmark, especially if they look amazing!
So here’s a list with my picks of bookmarks!
First of, some Vintage style bookmarks! These vintage-looking bookmarks have a pretty cool look. They’re not laminated but printed on tough cardboard. They’re not as thick and sturdy as some other bookmarks, but there’s not flimsy either. The print is one-sided though, so the other side of it is blank.
It’s a pretty good deal, though. You get no less than 30 bookmarks in this pack, for a pretty good price, so you can easily give a couple to your bookworm friends (or keep them all for yourself, of course).
But then there are also unicorns! Need I say more? These are printed two-sided, on cardboard, they have a water-resistant coating, and they come in a pack of 60 (a lot, right?). They’re perfect for kids and the unicorn lover in your life (it’s me, I’m the unicorn lover).
If neither vintage style nor unicorns are your things, don’t fret! There’s also space-themed bookmarks. These are similar to the vintage bookmarks, so they’re one-sided, and printed on cardboard. They come in a pack of 30 bookmarks.
Peter Pauper Press
This company has quite a couple of cute bookmarks. They’re all printed on sturdy cardstock and they all have tassels.
For instance, this one with ‘I Read Past My Bedtime’, and a cute fox. Or, if you love cats as much as I do, this bookmark is perfect! A cute kitty with glasses saying ‘Not Meow. I’m Reading.’? Umm, yes please!
Or what about this very bookish bookmark, with an open book and the quote: ‘When one book closes, another opens.’ Very true, right? When you’re more into space and love reading sci-fi, you can also go for this galaxy-themed bookmark. Or, last but not least, this adorable bookmark with an owl on it, with the quote: ‘Just one more chapter.’
They have a lot more, so definitely check them out!
I’ve never tried magnetic bookmarks before, but I think I will! They seem especially handy to annotate which part in my books I found interesting, dull, or had a great quote—which is quite convenient for writing reviews.
The first set of bookmarks come in a set of 5 with some nice pastel colors. They actually fit my home interior. Is that a sign I should buy them? They also have them in different shades of green, shades of pink/purple, with floral patterns, and a whole lot more. Do keep in mind that these are thin. They pretty much have the same thickness as paper. That makes them flexible, but also more fragile.
If you want to annotate your books, this set of 96 arrow-shaped marks are perfect! They come in a few different colors, and there’s a lot of them, so it’s pretty good value too! These are also made of paper, with a magnet inside of it on both sides.
Or, if not for annotating, these sloth bookmarks are awesome! I just love sloths. These markers also have arrows on the back to indicate where you left off, which is super handy. Again, keep in mind that these markers are made of paper, with magnets attached to them, so they’re quite thin and flimsier than your average bookmark.
There’s no better bookworm gift than a personalized bookmark. Or order one for yourself, of course. This leather bookmark looks beautiful, and you can choose the colors and the print (up to 10 characters, including A-Z, number 0-9, and the symbols . & , ♥).
A bit of whimsy never hurt anybody, so that’s where these bookmarks come in! I just love this wicked witch bookmark, with her legs sticking out of the book instead of from out of the house. But there are also other options, such as this bookmark with a mermaid tail, for fairytale lovers.
Or what about this amazing Game of Thrones-themed bookmark? Which fantasy lover doesn’t want to have a dragon’s tail sticking out of their book? It also has a very true quote: “It simply isn’t an adventure worth telling, if there aren’t any dragons.” And my new favorite: a sloth bookmark! How cool is that? I mean, aren’t we all sloths on the inside?
They have a bunch more that are all very cool, so it’s worth taking a look. They’re more expensive than the average bookmark, but that’s fair when you consider they’re handmade. I’m honestly quite sad that they don’t ship to my country… I would so love to buy one!
So, those are some of my picks when it comes to bookmarks. Which ones are your favorite? Did you get any? What are your thoughts on these bookmarks?
I bought a couple of the above-mentioned bookmarks myself, namely the ‘I read before bedtime’ and the ‘one more chapter’ bookmarks, as well as the magnetic sloths’ marks. I really wanted to buy the magnetic arrows, and the not meow bookmark as well, but I couldn’t find them on the Dutch Amazon, and shipping from the US is expensive. So that’s too bad 🙁
Anyway, I’ll update you on the ones I bought to add my own experience and some pictures as well! I hope you will enjoy these bookmarks, either for yourself or as a gift to someone else.
